I couldn’t believe what I just read on Sahan Fernando’s comment. There are still people in Sri Lanka who doesn’t know what really music is, Where it’s coming from and What is real Sinhala music is. These kind of people will take just about everything (whether good or bad) into themselves AS LONG AS they are western. Very sad. I’m very sorry to say. I’m only 19 years old and I live in Australia. I listen to Clarance, Anasley, Gypsies and other songs. BUt I enjoy the Meaningful and high quality music of Amraradewa and Sunil edirisnghe and Victor Ratnayake etc, Just as much and I’m so proud to be a sri lankan who has such quality music.

මට හරිම ආසවක් හිතුනා ඔබට, ඔබ අහල තියෙන ප්රශ්න වලට උත්තර දෙන්න. ඒත් මඟේ හැඟීම් වලට ඉඩ දීලා මට හිතට එන අදහස් ඒ විදියටම කියන්නෙ නැතුව මෙහෙම කියන්නම් ( ප්රිය වචන භාවිතා කරන්න කියල මේකෙ කියල තියෙන නිසා ). ඔබේ ප්රශ්නයට සරළම පිළිතුර “ඔව්” අපි ඒ සින්දු ඉමහත් කැමැත්තකින් අසීමිත ආශාවකින් අහනවා…! බටහිර සන්ගීතය, ( පොප්, හිපොප් යනාදිය නොවේ) විශේෂයෙන් ශාස්ත්රීය බටහිර සන්ගීතය නරකයි කියල අපි කියන්නෙ නැහැ… ඒවයෙත් ලස්සනක් තියෙනෙවා… හැබැයි ඉතින් සිරාවටම කියනවනම් අපිට එව දිරවන්නෙ නැහැ… ඒ ඉතින් අපි ගොඩයො හින්දද කියල කියන්න නම් දන්නෙ නැහැ… හැබැයි ඉතින් එකක් කියන්න පුලුවන්… ඔය බටහිර ස්ටයිල් එක කොපි කරල උඹල වගේ උන් ලන්කාවේ හදන ගොඩක් සින්දුවලනම් මෙලෝ රහක් නැහැ…
සිරාවටම අවවාදයක් දෙන්නම්., ඔය පුන්චි ඔලුකට්ටට නොතේරෙන සන්ස්කෘතියට රිලේටිව් වගේ ටෝක්ස් නොදී ඉන්න තරමට උඹට හොදයි…! බොක්කෙන්ම..!

හරියටම හරි මල්ලි. අද වුනත් අපි බොහෝ වෙලාවට යාලුවෝ ටිකක් එකතු වුනාම, පුංචි සාදයකදී ගයන්නේ අර 70′ & 80′ දශකයේ සින්දු නෙමෙයිද? modern pop music නම් නෙමෙයි. මොකද බොහෝ ගීත එනවා යනවා. මාසයකින් පස්සේ මතකවත් නෑ. නමුත් දශක ගණනකත් පස්සේ එදා වගේම රස විදින ගීත අපේ නවීන ඉතිහාසයේ තිබීම කොච්චර දෙයක්ද.

ඒ කිව්වෙ කන් අඩි පුපුරන සින්තසයිසර් සද්දෙත් එක්ක ගිරිය යටින් කෑගහන බටහිර පොප් රොක් ගීත(ඒවට ගීත කියන්නත් අමාරුයි ) සිත නිවන බොදු බැති ගීත වලට වඩිය උසස් ආ??? අපිත් හොඳහැටි බටහිර ගීත අහල තියනව. ගොඩක් ඒව බලු බල්ලෙකුට අහන් ඉන්න බෑ.
