sinhalaya, you are wrong. Einstein was an extremist Jew. By no means did he refuse the idea “the universe is a creation of God”. What seems to have happened to him, when analyzing these quotes, is that he has probably misunderstood Buddhism.
In the first quote, he says Buddhism “transcends a personal God”. you have given this as proof for Einstein being an atheist.
This statement, however, is in direct compliance with the Jewish philosophy. The Jews entirely refuse a “personal appearance of God”. That’s why the Jews crucified Jesus, for the crime of personally appearing as God. Hence it could be seen Einstein saw Buddhism as a reflection of the Jewish faith, which in fact is a completely different philosophy that refuses the existence of any God(the one with the big ‘G’) in personal or any other form.
Further, in a following quote Einstein has stated “A human being is part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe’”. This is utter nonsense found only in the Mahayana faith(which I refuse even to call by the name Buddhism) and does not tally by any means with the views of pure Theravada Buddhism. According to Theravada, nothing, in what we call the world or universe is of material existence. Everything, the whole so-called “universe” is a delusion crated by our own ignorance(Avijja). hence to speak of “a whole, called universe” in Buddhism would be completely incorrect.
To prove that Einstein was a theist, I present the following quotes of him.
To test Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity, a group of scientists conducted an experiment on how much light bends during a solar eclipse, and got exactly half the value derived by Einstein’s equations. Einstein’s reply to them was “God has not created the universe according to your equipment but according to my equations”
In an argument with Neil Bohr , Einstein has stated “God does not play dice”
In conversations with Rabeendranath Thagor, who too was a theist, Einstein has expressed his idea of a material world created by God while Thagor spoke of an idealistic world, that too created by God.
What I intend to say here is that as Sinhala Buddhists, we must not in any way confuse Buddhism with Western science.
A quote of Anagarika Dharmapala comes to my mind.
“Why go behind the lights of fireflies while you have the sun shining upon you”.
Likewise, while we have the sun of Lord Buddha shining upon us, why should we go behind the light of the firefly named Western science?

නිලංක ඔයා කිසිත් නොදැන කථා කරන්නේ. බෞද්ධයෙක් වෙන්නත් පුලුවන් ඔයා අබෞද්ධයෙක් වෙන්නත් පුලුවන්.
ඔය නිල් චිත්රපට සිද්ධිය වුනේ මොරටුවේ. සියලු ශූරතාවයිගේ දේවස්ථානය (queens of angels ) ටිරෝන් ප්රනාන්දු ක්රීඩා පිටියට යාබදව. කියන තැන. එතැන සැලසුම් කරලා තිබුනේ දෙවියන්ගේ ජීව්ත කථාව පෙන්වන්න. අන්තිමට වුනේ ඔබ කියපු දෙය. මම එදා එතැනට ගියේ මිතුරෙකුගේ මවගේ සොහොන සුද්ධ පවිත්ර කිරීමට උපාකාර කරන්න.
