තෙරුවන් සරණ යාම කිසිවෙකුට නම හෝ හැකි නම් ජාතිය වෙනස් කිරීමට හේතුවක් නොවේ. මුස්ලිම් බෞද්ධයෙකු ලෙසම ජීවත් විය හැක. එසේම මෙහි දැක්වෙන අය තෙරුවන් සරණ ගිය බව නිසැකවම පැවසිය නොහැක. විවාහය වැනි බොහෝ හේතූන් මේ සඳහා බලපෑ හැකිවේ.
මුස්ලිම් ජාතිකයෙකුට තෙරුවන් සරණ යාමට බාධාවක් නොවේ. තමා අනුගමනය කරන ආගම හෝ පිළිපදින ධර්මය උපතින් ලැබෙන්නක් නොවන නමුත් තමා අයත් ජාතිය හෝ ජන වර්ගය මව් පිය පරම්පරාවෙන් උරුම වන්නකි. එබැවින් නම් වෙනස් කළ පමණින් වෙනස් කළ හැක්කක් නොවේ. ඉංග්රීසි ජාතිකයෙකු සිංහල නමක් භාවිත කළ පමණින් සිංහලයෙකුවත් සිංහලයෙකු ඉංග්රීසි නමක් භාවිත කළ පමණින් ඉංග්රීසියෙකුවත් නොවේ. නමුදු ක්රිස්තියානියෙකු වූ ඉංග්රිසියෙකුට තෙරුවන් සරණ යාමෙන් බෞද්ධයෙකු විය හැක. දෙවියන් පිහිට පැතීමෙන් බෞද්ධයෙකුව සිටි සිංහලයෙකුට කිතුණුවෙකු විය හැක.
කෙසේ වෙතත් බුදු දහම වැලඳ ගත් පමණින් මෙතෙක් පාරම්පරිකව කරගෙන ආ ආගමික චාරිත්ර ඉටු කිරිම, දේවස්ථානයට යාම ආදිය එක් වරම අත් හැරීම ද කළ යුතුම නොවේ. එය අනවශ්යසමාජමය ගැටළුවකට මුල පිරීමක් හා අන් අයගේ හිත් රිදවීමකට හේතු විය හැක. තෙරුවන් සරණ යාම හේතුවෙන් තමා තුල ප්රගුණ වන ගුණාංග කෙරෙහි පැහැදීමෙන් ඇතැම් විට තවත් අය ද තෙරුවන කෙරෙහි පැහැදිමක් සහිතව ධර්මය ඉගෙන ගැනීමට පෙළඹිය හැක.
මේ ආකාරයේ අවස්ථාවල දී බුදු රජාණන් වහන්සේ දේශනා කළ ආකාරය වන්නේ ද තමා කලින් සිටි ආගමික නායකයනට කළ පුද සත්කාරද නොනවත්වා ඒ ආකාරයටම කරගෙන යාම සුදුසු බවයි.
අමතක කරන්න එපා , සිංහල ජාතිකත්වය කෙනෙකුට ලැබෙන්නෙ එයාගෙ උප්පත්තියෙන් නෙමෙයි , එයාගෙ ක්රියාකාරකමෙනුයි. රනිල් සිංහලයෙක් කියල රටේ බහුතරයක් පිළිනොගන්නේ ඒ නිසානේ. එවගේම දෙමවිපියො මුස්ලිම් වෙලා , පහුවෙද්දි ඒ ආගමේ බොරුව අවබෝධ වෙලා , බුදු දහම ගැන පැහැදිලා , බුදු දහම පිළිපදින අයත් ඉන්නවා ලංකාවේ විතරක් නෙමෙයි පිටරටත්. ඒනිසා කෙනෙක්ගෙ ජාතිය තීරණය කරද්දි අපි වඩාත් සැලකිලිමත් වෙන්න ඕනා. එහෙම නොවුනොත් අපිට වටින අයටත් හානි වෙන්න පුළුවනි.
තමා සිංහලයෙකුද නැද්ද යන්න උපතින් ලැබෙනවාට අමතරව තමා සිතන පතන ආකාරයෙන්ද තීරණය කළ හැකිය. එසේ වුවද හැදුණු වැඩුණු පවුලේ සිතුම් රටාව පුද්ගලයෙකුගේ ජනවාර්ගික අනන්යතාව සිත තුල ස්ථාපනය වීමට අතිශයින් බලපානු ලබයි. අඳින ඇදුමෙන් පමණක් නොව ඇතැම් විට කථා කරන හා ඉගෙන ගත් භාෂාව වුවද මෙයට දායක නොවනු ඇත. එසේම අයෙකුගේ ජාතිය තීරණය කිරීම තම තම සිතුවිලි වලින් මිස රටේ බහුතරයගේ තීරණයකින් විය නොයුත්තකි.

You have completely confused race, ethnicity and religion. Nobody can be a “Muslim Buddhist”. A “Muslim” is somebody who follows Islam. So when you stop following Islam u cease to be a Muslim. So infact it is quite proper to change your name to a Sinhala name if you convert from Islam to Buddism.
Also, the Sinhala word “Jathiya” is very completely misunderstood by people. In the present world “Jathiya” referes to “race”. A “race” is a group of people similar in skin color AND physical appearance. This is the modern definition of race.
In fact the word “Jathiya” in Sinhala means country. Sinhala Jaythiya is synonymous with the Sinhala rata. There is not term in the Sinhala language to denote the modern definition of race, simply becuase the Sinhalese are NOT a “race” in the modern context of the word.
The Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslims, i.e. all sub-groups in South Asia are NOT races (or Jatheen). They are ethnic groups who differentiate from each other mainly through language and religion (Muslims are a good example of this).
There is NO Sinhala Jaythiya or Sinhala Race. What there is, is the Sinhala Ethnic group which differentiates from other South Asian ethnic groups through the Sinhala Language. There is Simple test for this. Can you identify a Sinhalaese just by looking at them?? No we can’t. All south asians look the same. Brown skinned and having similar physical features. We all look the same. So we all belong to the same “race” or “Jaathiya”. i.e. we belong to the “Brown skinned Jaathiya” or Brown People as we are referred to by other “races”.
In case you did not notice, Europeans have consistant White skin and consistant physical features. Same for blacks and Chinese. You can identiy these races just by looking at them. But, we don’t show consistancy in skin color and physical appearance. There are some sinhalaese who have very fair skin and some have skin like Africans. Some have European features (Ranil) and some have African features (Jackson Anthony). The same applies to Indians, Bangladeshis. So there is NO WAY that we are a “RACE”.
“Technically” there are only 3 races in this world: Caucasoid (i.e. White), Negroid and mongoloid. Problem is that WE don’t belong to any one of them. We are “mix” of all the races. Haven’t you hear of the Aryan Invasion Theory where Europeans Invade North-West India somewhere aound 1500 BC and mix with the local populations? In fact the Karawa people of Sri Lanka are Tamils who migrated here in the 15th and 16th centuries mainly as the Local kings paid mercinaries who settled here. These are well documented in all the litrature. I can quote you plenty of books including Prof. KM de Silva.
You are a Sinhalese by BIRTH and NOT by deed. You cannot differentiate people like what you mentioned (by the way people behave). That is riduculous. And NO, Ranil is a Sinhalese. Nobody considers him NOT Sinhalese. It’s just the people accuse him of favoring the west and behaving like a Kalu Suddha. So no matter how much Ranil sucks to the tune of the Europeans,he is STILL a Sinhalese.

Muslim is already a Buddhist so there is no point in getting converted to Budhism once again. Muslims follow the Buddhism the way Lord Buddha did that is maintaining Pancha seela while eating meat. You know not every Muslims involve in Slaughtering animal but Muslim consider butchering as a cheapest job.
Observing the pancha seela is not the Buddhism. And we know even how those muslim businessmen follow the second silaya.
keep in touch about these people they may be transfer as Sinhalees to find out more about sinhala. because if any one can find out more about some thing it is very easy to destroy it. Muslims and christians are trying for it much.
